São Paulo-based ODATA, a data center operator owned by Aligned Data Centers, said on Thursday it secured $1.02 billion in green financing to accelerate the construction of sustainable digital infrastructure across the region.

The transaction, the largest of its kind for data centers in Latin America, lifts ODATA’s total financing to $2.25 billion.

The company stated that the fresh capital will help meet the surging demand for cloud and artificial intelligence capacity while aligning with its strict sustainability targets.

Backing from Global Banks

The funding was arranged by a syndicate of international lenders, including Apterra, BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole CIB, Deutsche Bank, MUFG, Natixis, Nomura, Societe Generale and SMBC.

ODATA said the proceeds will be invested in projects that meet high sustainability benchmarks, such as renewable energy integration, energy efficiency improvements and low-impact construction practices.

“This historic achievement, representing the largest issuance of sustainable data center financing in Latin America, has allowed ODATA to build a solid financial structure,” said Chief Financial Officer Rafael Bomeny, in a statement. “We’re well-positioned to empower our customers in their digital infrastructure expansion across the region.”

Regional Expansion

The company plans to use the financing to scale operations in Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Colombia, where demand for reliable cloud and AI-ready facilities is growing.

ODATA said its investments would help ensure those markets gain access to “world-class IT infrastructure” to support sustainable digital growth.

“Sustainability is a top priority for ODATA,” Bomeny added. “With this new green financing, we can continue contributing to the development of Latin America’s digital infrastructure while upholding the highest standards of sustainability.”

Sustainability Focus

Founded as a pioneer in clean energy adoption, ODATA was the first hyperscale data center operator in Latin America to self-produce 100 percent renewable energy in Brazil.

The company recently deployed Delta Cube, a patented air-cooling technology developed by parent Aligned Data Centers, which can handle power loads of up to 50 kilowatts per rack and is compatible with liquid cooling.

ODATA said the innovation highlights its commitment to combining efficiency with cutting-edge design to meet future demand in Latin America’s digital economy.
