Ecolab, SCG Sign 5-Year Pact to Cut Emissions, Boost Competitiveness
SCG partners with Ecolab to cut emissions, boost efficiency and advance ESG goals in five-year sustainability pact
Ecolab, a US-based provider of water, hygiene and infection prevention solutions, and Siam Cement Group, one of Southeast Asia’s largest conglomerates, have signed a five-year memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing SCG’s efficiency and competitiveness while accelerating its path to net-zero emissions.
The agreement, which runs from June 2025 to May 2030, seeks to reduce SCG’s greenhouse gas emissions and increase its water reuse ratio beyond the 13.10 percent baseline recorded in 2024. It builds on a 30-year partnership between the companies focused on sustainability and innovation.
Focus on Efficiency and Cost Savings
Under the deal, Ecolab will work with SCG Packaging and SCG Chemicals to introduce process improvements that conserve water, cut carbon dioxide emissions and lower operational costs.
The collaboration will also explore the integration of renewable energy and measures to enhance energy efficiency.
“Competitiveness and sustainability go hand in hand,” SCG President and CEO Thammasak Sethaudom said in a statement. “This MOU with Ecolab is a strategic move that enables us to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and strengthen our resilience while advancing our ESG priorities toward Net Zero 2050.”
Innovation to Drive Sustainability
Ecolab Chairman and CEO Christophe Beck said the company had supported SCG’s sustainability journey for more than three decades.
“As we look ahead, our continued collaboration—powered by innovation and a focus on sustainable growth—will help accelerate SCG’s environmental ambitions and inspire progress across the broader industry,” he said.
Executives from SCGP and SCGC said the partnership would help advance sustainable packaging design and improve water and energy efficiency in operations, aligning with SCGC’s “Low Waste, Low Carbon” commitments.
The MOU highlights the role of cross-industry partnerships in turning environmental pledges into measurable outcomes. SCG aims to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, while Ecolab continues to expand its role as a global sustainability partner.
