Beewise Secures $50M to Fight Pollinator Decline with AI-powered Hives
Beewise secures $50 million to scale AI-driven robotic hives combating global pollinator decline and boosting food security.
Beewise Inc., a U.S.-based climate technology company that develops robotic beehives to combat pollinator decline, said on Monday it has raised $50 million in a Series D funding round to scale its artificial intelligence-powered BeeHome platform and expand into new markets.
The latest round, which includes participation from Fortissimo Capital, Insight Partners, APG Asset Management, lool Ventures, Badiya Capital, Marav Mazon Group and Austin Hearst, brings the company’s total funding to nearly $170 million.
Bee Crisis Spurs Tech Innovation
Beewise’s fundraising comes amid a mounting crisis for global pollinators. Over 62 percent of honeybee colonies in the U.S. perished in 2024, a trend driven by extreme weather, pesticide exposure, and disease, the company said.
As pollinators are vital to one-third of global food crops and 75 percent of flowering plants, their decline poses a major risk to food security.
Founded to address this issue, the company has created BeeHome, a solar-powered smart hive that leverages AI, precision robotics and remote monitoring to provide real-time, autonomous care for bee colonies.
“Declined pollination due to the global collapse of bee colonies is one of humanity’s most pressing issues,” said Saar Safra, co-founder and CEO of Beewise. “This financing validates our momentum and accelerates our mission.”
Expanding Reach and Capabilities
Beewise currently operates 1,240 BeeHomes, which monitor and treat colonies continuously using machine learning algorithms.
Its fourth-generation model, BeeHome 4, features a new “heat chamber” technology that eliminates 99 percent of the deadly Varroa mites without the use of chemicals.
The company stated that the new capital will be utilized to scale production, enhance its AI and robotics capabilities and expand its presence in key agricultural regions.
Since its last funding round in 2022, the climate technology firm has grown to become a leading provider of pollination services, supporting over 300,000 acres of farmland annually and working with major growers such as Nuveen Natural Capital, Agriland, and Olam Food Ingredients.
Investor Confidence Remains High
Investors say the company’s fusion of robotics, artificial intelligence, and climate tech positions it for long-term impact.
“Beewise has moved from bold vision to market leadership,” said Yoav Hineman, partner at Fortissimo Capital and a board member. “Their continued success reinforces our confidence in both the team and the technology.”
Insight Partners, which participated in the Series C round, also joined the new investment. “What Beewise is building has global implications for the environment and the food supply chain,” said Insight Managing Director Daniel Aronovitz.
